Okay, Orlando Day 2 coming at you.
The day started okay, with a great night’s worth of sleep. I got a nice hotel bed. Slept better than I do at home, or in Magna, for that matter. But the day just went downhill from there.
Cameron and I decided to relax for a while. Then we went downstairs and walked around the hotel for a while. It didn’t take us long to realize that there was nothing to do, so we went and arranged for some activities. A ride and ticket to Universal Studios, as well as a ticket to Epcot. We couldn’t get on the tour to the Kennedy Space Center though.
Anyway, we got through that and got us some breakfast. Tubbi’s is the only place around that costs less than a fortune. It only costs a small fortune. Their food wasn’t too bad though.
We wandered around the hotel a bit and then just went back to our room to relax a bit. After watching a movie we decided to visit Walt Disney’s Epcot Center. What a mistake that was.
We took a boat to the back entrance of the Epcot. At the entrance we had to be have a full cavity search, for our personal convenience and safety. Without cavity searches, the terrorists have already won.
But that was the fun part of the day. Epcot was dull and boring. We walked through the ‘countries’ that Disney has set up there, browsing through shops and such. Everything was stupid. I think people call it cool to vindicate their spending of such a large amount of money on it.
The ‘countries’ were very poor imitations of the real thing. I wonder if people from the countries are offended by the fact that Americans think they can sum up the entire culture of a country with a few people wearing silly costumes selling trinkets with Disney written all over them.
Even more surprising was that we walked in and out of Mexico without having to pass through border patrol or plow through kids selling Chic-lets. The Japanese storyteller didn’t talk with voice-overs either. It was all a sham. What a waste of time.
Tonight we have an opening meeting, luckily we don’t need to dress. That’s good, because FBLA meetings are lame. In fact, FBLA is lame, I don’t even know why I’m here.
